SpiceUpYourLife.com is an online adult dating site. We were tasked to build a social networking site to let the hottest singles turn their wildest fantasies into reality. Not only was it an interactive portal of considerable size and features, but being in the US the limited availability of technical support and time difference was a challenge. Many countless hours were invested in the research of community portals and dating sites, in order to understand the needs and lifestyles of people who participate in these forms of online networking. Our aim was to create an interface that would be intuitive for as many people as possible. The large amount of functions and the wide demographic threshold meant that we needed a navigational design that was simple and straightforward yet powerful enough to include the features required.

We decided to adopt a phased approach to the creation of the website. Beginning with a set of basic features, the site would be launched in phases that allowed us time to test new functions with live results and feedback, and make improvements accordingly. This approach also allowed users to learn the use of a series of gradual enhancements, easing them into the ins and outs of additional features.

Design-wise, while we used a deep passionate red as the thematic colour for the site, we offset it with stark white in order to ease the eyes and make photos (an important element of any dating site) stand out. Back to Portfolio Home
